I didn’t make the Oreo’s Cupcake

Oh, really, do you make your own Oreo’s?
I had a reason to celebrate a few weeks ago and went to a fancy dinner at a place in South Chandler. Dinner was amazingly good, the waiter was educated about wine and suggested the perfect bottle, it was served at exactly the right temperature and all was well.
I always get kinda giddy at a restaurant when they make their desserts in house and even more excited when they have an on staff pastry chef.
So, it was time for dessert and the same waiter, the one that I was gushing all during dinner, presented the dessert menu. The banana fosters marshmallow pie with Oreo crust stood out. When I announced my choice, the waiter agreed it was the best choice. He even said, “We make everything in house.”
To which I replied, “everything?” and you may have guessed it, before I could stop myself, I said,
Oh, really, do you make your own Oreo’s?
If you want to see a mood change at a dinner table, call out your foodie, wine connoisseur waiter for a small slip in words. Ugh! I left a 30% tip to try to buy back his affection.
I thought about that story when I was at the grocery store buying Oreo’s to make these cupcakes. I got the recipe from a book that Isaac gave me called Cupcakes and other Goodies. Far and away, chocolate cupcakes are the favorite in my office and I love cookies and cream ice cream, so I think these fit nicely to satisfy both tastes.
These cupcakes have cookies crushed inside the batter and I decided to stack a cookie on top for good measure.
