Time for another food confession, I don’t like chocolate. I don’t hate it, I can eat it and I especially like it when combined with nuts or other flavors like chili. I can’t remember the last time I had a chocolate chip cookie and rarely if I make a chocolate cupcake, I easily resist tasting [...]

Who dat think they goin to beat dem Saints?
Typically I watch enough football to weather pop football quizzes from my Dad. I love a good sports story and when they do those behind the scenes rags to riches over coming diversity stories, I well up with the best of them. But lets be serious, I [...]
Lemon Mergingue Cupcakes
Posted in Arizona, Cupcakes, Desserts, Eat Local, Food, Recipe on Jan 16th, 2010
It’s like a little lemon pie on top of a cupcake. This cupcake recipe was the epitome of great parts coming together to make an amazing whole. This recipe was inspired by Martha Stewart’s Lemon Meringue Cupcakes. The difference is I chose to make classic meringue for the topping instead of her 7-minute frosting.
The lemon [...]
Candied Citrus Orange Cupcakes

A whole box of oranges that had been hand picked by the tree’s owner were given to me the other day. One one hand I was delighted on the other I was little sad that my alternative methods of fruit acquisition would be curbed for a bit.
Don’t get me wrong, absolutely did bike by THE [...]
Setting the Twenty Ten Tone

Going out on NYE has never been a favorite of mine. I’m trying to remember what year it was, perhaps 2002, I’m pretty sure my taxi driver was drunk. Ever since then, I’ve tried to stay really close to home for the big event.
Christmas was pretty eventful, so staying close to home for this NYE [...]
Aloha! This picture was taken after we hiked for two hours through jungle and mud to Maunawili Falls in Oahu, Hawaii. November starts the rainy season in Hawaii, so for this trip beach chairs and drinks with umbrellas were not part of the festivities.
Instead we toured the whole island and this hike was one of [...]
Snowman Cupcakes

I’m pretty sure that when people look at me they don’t think, “she looks like an athlete.” That’s why I’m confused when I get asked to play things like flag football, laser tag and softball. All with the guise that “we’re just going to have some fun.”
Right.
So, when I walk up to the flag football [...]
Pumpkin Butter

Warning: The FDA does not recommend canning pumpkin. That was a small footnote on the bottom of a long recipe I found online for making pumpkin butter.
It was a footnote I wish I would have noticed before I peeled three pumpkins with a potato peeler. One I wish I would have read before I pan [...]

Admittedly, I get myself worked into a frenzy when there are harvestable items in Arizona. I don’t want to hash out old news, but for those of you who have visited my blog from time to time, you’ll recall my citrus bandit phase thisĀ past spring.
I’m trying to control it, but it is prickly pear [...]
My canning premiere
Posted in Arizona, Canning and Preserving, Condiments, Food, Fruit, Home Style Cooking on Sep 27th, 2009
Canning is another one of those crafty homemade endeavors that was on my list of “things to learn.”
It’s amazing how many resources there are online on the subject and how an online shout out got me an invitation to a friend’s house to take a stab at learning the process.
Ball’s website has online tutorials and [...]
