Monetization. That’s a big trend with blogs today. Slipping in links to shopping web sites in the hopes that you the reader will ‘click-through’ from the blog you’re reading to the online store link. The result is money for the blogger.
It’s not a bad thing and I’m not ruling it out for my blog either, but I’m not blogging for money. I’m blogging because I like it.
And, you see shopping links on my site. That’s right! Here’s the deal. All the shopping links on my web site are portaled first through a charity link. That means that if you happen to buy something from a link on my web site a real life charity will get a portion of your shopping dollars.
No middle man either. If I did my job right, it’ll look just like you’re shopping from Target, Barnes and Noble or whatever. The only thing I did was insert a code that ties your shopping to a charity.
Charities that will receive the benefit of your donation are:
- Junior League of Phoenix
- Ryan House
- Arizona Science Center
- Homeward Bound
- Make a Wish Foundation
- Habitat for Humanity
If you want to know how you can do this too for your blog, send me an email: info [at] prissycook [dot] com
