SBMS Scholarship also known as ePass is a scholarships that offers reimbursement of tuition fee (RTF) for students. This is done in full but only to those who pursue matric courses and these courses must be duly approved by the chosen University or Board. It is given twice a year. This scholarship also offers maintenance charges (MTF) or Mess charges sanctioned monthly. Courses are grouped into four with different rates for attached hostel, students managed, and hostel day scholars. Under group I which has the highest rate of all groups are Engineering, Medicine, MBA, MCA and CPL. Courses like PG, M Phil, PhD, CA, Polytechnic and GNM are under group 2. Degree courses fall under group three while group four covers Intermediate, ITI, Vocational and MPHW.
Eligible students for the SBMS scholarship are those who belong to SC category that includes BC-C, ST, BC, and DW with annual parental income of Rupees One Lakh or below. Students who have a quarterly attendance of 75% are also welcome to apply. Students that are not eligible are those who does not belong to the categories listed, students who are enrolled to part time and online courses, those admitted under sponsored seats, and management quota seats, students drawing the stipend more than the scholarship amount in aggregate annum and BC, EBC, DW students that avail the courses offered by other universities, distant mode, category B seats in MBBS and BDS as well as EBC students that are studying intermediate courses.
Training courses are not awarded with SBMS scholarship. These courses include Aircraft Maintenance Engineering, Private Pilot course, and courses at pre-examination training centers in India and state levels. A list of colleges that offer SBMS scholarship is provided to the Commissioner of Social Welfare by the Administrative Departments such as Department of Higher Education, Technical Education, School Education, Health Medical and Family Welfare, Employment and Training.
Interested students are invited to apply online by submitting the SBMS scholarship application one month before admission date. The principal must have to issue authentic certificate on the same day the student submitted the hard copy of their application in their department. There will be a physical verification to be done twice a year: within a month of re-opening of the college and a month before admissions close. You would have to supply certain information in order to be approved with the SBMS scholarship. These includes your academic years, your SSC exam number, the year you passed, SSC pass type, and your birth date.
Be careful of the following reasons for rejection of SBMS scholarship: incorrect financial information, failure to submit income certificates, choosing an ineligible course, erroneous academic year, failure to submit hard copy of documents required, no show, admission under management quota, failure to submit enclosures, discontinued or detained students (for renewal purposes), having scholarships for courses in the same level, previous sanction verification, and students not recommended by the Field Officer. Students may submit an uploaded and completely filled-up applications at night where there is lighter network traffic to facilitate easy submission.
